Similar Music video Analysis

As part of my research I analysed a music video that is similar to my groups music genre.
For this i chose the video Chaise Lounge by Wet Leg
The mise en scene of the music video is very weird and out of the box. The costumes are very vintage and are similar to the Victorian era. The costumes do also relate to the filming location which is a very empty countryside area. The props of the video include an apple, boater hat, rocking horse and a rocking chair. the props are very minimal an also very weird and quirky which matches the quirkiness of the song.the song is quite upbeat and happy and thats portrayed in the high key lighting along with the outdoors filming locations. The editing of the video is on beat with the song. the video also doesn't fulfil Goodwin's theory that visuals link with the lyrics. This makes the music video even quirkier. there are no other sounds in the video accept for the artist's song that they are lip syncing. The font of the group name is very asymmetric and eye catching, this represents the artists persona very effectively. The props are extremely weird which further emphasises the odd nature of the video. The empty locations create this idea of isolation and focuses our attention onto the artists and what they are doing. the video also includes lots of long lasting shots which makes the audience feel uncomfortable. it is also very unusual that we cant see one of the artist's identity which creates enigmas for thew audience. the video is very basic in the idea of there is no special effects editing or high budget props. the rocking horse and rocking chair props also can create connotations of horror films which make the audience feel uncomfortable and therefore create more enigmas. The video is filled with enigmas which draw the audience in and make the audience want to watch more to find out more information about the narrative and the artist. the video doesn't have a strong narrative or narrative structure. this is enforced as the editing flicks back and firth between different locations.
Looking at this video my group can take a lot of inspiration for our own production as we also want our video to be very weird and confusing as-well. Details such as the dresses and weird props are ideas we will take into account when designing our video.
