'Have you fed the fish'- editing process

After filming everything we then went through each take and picked the best clips. We then imported the footage into Premier Pro and individual started to edit the clips. Firstly I edited the clips together to create a smooth flow. I then started at the beginning and worked my way to the end trimming each clip to the right length so that there wasn’t any silences or random gaps. I then went back to the beginning and wanted to start on my intro. We had filmed clips of us walking down the corridor and also filmed individual ones so I wanted to edit these together. I started with the group clip and slowed down the footage to make us walk in slow motion. I then took two of the solo walking clips and created a split screen with them and then did the same with the other two clips. This was difficult to do so I had to use a tutorial on YouTube to figure it out at the beginning but I then got the hang of it. I then added a title card and added the title of the short film. Then it came to the scenes with dialogue. I had a few issues with the audio in these scenes so I had to add a title card to replace the lost audio. Lastly I added some music. I used the song ‘God is a women’ by Ariana Grande because the lyrics match the storyline we are conveying. Out main character is a female leader of an all-male group. I did my best to match the lyrics of the song to the clip. For example whenever we see Emily’s character the lyrics ‘You’ll believe God is a women’ are sung. Due to some timing issues there are a couple blank spaces that I didn’t have time to fill and also the music ends abruptly in some clips because I didn’t have time to learn how to fade it out. This is something I will work on next time. I had a lot of fun editing these short films as there was no boundaries and we each had individual control of the editing style we used.
